A Monologue by Martha
by Patricia Souder
SYNOPSIS: As Martha prepares to celebrate Passover, she finds herself swirling in a sea of conflicting emotions because of the startling events that occur after Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. Martha expects this miracle to prepare the way for the Messiah to take his rightful place as King of kings, but is horrified by the animosity and death threats from the religious rulers. Martha’s reflections offer a deeper understanding of how difficult it it was—and is—to trust God to work things together for our good and His glory in troubling times.
